So, you have spent countless hours poring over your manuscript, you have drafted and edited, read and re-read, amended and rewritten – all of the hard work is done. Now you are ready to print your book and share it with the world. What next?
Editing and Layout
Proofreading, editing and formatting
Your document may need some work to prepare it for digital print and publishing, we can tailor these services to suit your needs and budget. Submit your Word document so we can assess it in order to provide you with an estimate for the required work, with no obligation.
Please note that Microsoft Word often opens a new document at the default size of US Letter (click here for more information). This page size is not suitable for producing books and we cannot accept files for printing at this size, it must be converted to a standard book size first. We can supply ready-formatted blank Word documents if you wish to do this yourself. We also offer InDesign formatted templates.
We offer a complete proofreading and editing service to help authors get their books ready for publication by ensuring the use of English is correct and, if the author chooses, formatting the document to chosen page size, inserting pictures, and ensuring standard use of fonts and headings, etc.
We find that most authors are seeking one of three options:
- Light Proofread: Copy checked for spelling and punctuation errors
- Heavier Edit: In addition to proofreading, our editors will identify where improvements can be made to writing style, sentence/paragraph structure, word usage, copy flow etc.
- Edit and Layout: We will ensure your book looks the best it can be with a professional layout, appropriate font choice and appropriate use of pictures and captions.
Our editors are client-focused and maintain communication with authors throughout the editorial process.
As an additional service, we can also prepare your book for e-publishing, making your book available to mobile devices such as Kindle, iPad and Android tablets. Contact us for pricing, but please note that this is intended as an added extra, and not offered as a standalone service.
Provide your own cover artwork (please contact us for sizing details and artwork specifications etc.), or submit your own photos or illustrations and we will assign a graphic designer to work with you to create a professional cover that will get you noticed on the shelf. We can also create a design for you to assist your books marketing potential and shelf appeal. We are here to help you, but you are in full control at every stage of this process.
Our designers can create anything else you might need: Identity packages (logos & stationery), full colour brochures, newsletters, calendars, leaflets, flyers etc.
If you intend selling your book through major retailers, you will need an ISBN number and corresponding barcode. As the publisher it is your responsibility to register with Nielsen (The ISBN Agency for UK & Ireland), and you will receive a block of 10 book codes. Each book you publish will be assigned the next unique 13-digit code from this list. We use this code to generate and test the barcode image and add it to your cover artwork.
Nielsen ISBN Agency
If you just need a single ISBN for one book we can register and apply one of our ISBNs to your book, but please note that Lettertec Publishing will be listed as the publisher.
We have wide selection of digital approved papers in stock for the text pages of your book, please contact us for the full range. Our standard options are:
